Literacy Day
Fostering a love for reading and promoting literacy in our Guyanese community has a transformative impact beyond academics. Reading opens up new worlds, broadens horizons, and allows children to explore different perspectives and cultures. It promotes empathy, critical thinking, and creativity. By instilling a passion for reading, young people are equipped with valuable skills that enable them to make informed decisions, communicate effectively, and contribute meaningfully to society. Literacy empowers young individuals to break free from the cycle of poverty, opening doors to better opportunities and a brighter future for themselves and their communities.
The objective of Advance Guyana’s Literacy Day is to get the children throughout our Essequibo community to come together. We fostered an engaging and supportive environment where the children were able to complete age-appropriate worksheets, and puzzles, play with toys, make bracelets, play outdoor games, and engage in fun water fighting. We were overwhelmed by the support of parents, teachers, and ex-teachers in cultivating a safe and fun-filled environment for the children!
